What's the origin of this design?

G'day Michelle.

Life. It is something that I drew back in 2000-2001 that represents a 'motor'. I figured out the following, and came to have a look at the pic, then noticed your post, any ...

When I was looking into motion, I came up with this idea of 8 cogs around a central pole with one chain interlinking them all together. If you number the 8 outer circles, 1-8, start at 1, move into the centre and out to position 4, then 7, then 2-5-8 and finally 3-6-1, and you are back at the start.

As in a pulley system, the involuted curving would generate energy, while the chain keeps it within the one system.

I have a few ideas relating to application, though here is one ...

Place a 'Rodin Coil' in all 9 positions and interconnect them with coiled copper wires in the above pattern ... and for kicks, you can do it by spiralling through each 'Rodin Coil'.
